I
have been active my entire life, involved in organized baseball,
basketball, and football my entire youth and up until completing high
school. I have also stayed active within the community by coaching youth
sports at various levels in the Walkersville area. I began running and
training with weights as a method of gaining strength and endurance for
competitive sports while in school. It did not take me long to realize the
benefits, both physical and psychological, of a lifestyle that involves
exercise. I really try to stress the importance of a healthy and fit
lifestyle to young adults and children I have helped mentor, not only to
improve their performance in the short-term, but as a way of establishing
habits that will ultimately to lead to a longer and higher-quality
existence. I have been weight-training for about 20 years and my
specialties are strength training, power-lifting, body-building or
body-shaping. I am a big proponent of variety, and I integrate a lot of
cross-training techniques into my programs. I feel it adds variety,
off-sets boredom, and is a great way to reduce the injury-risk. This
includes altering work-out settings, intensity, volume, and methods in the
interest of achieving optimal results. I decided to become a personal
trainer because I love people, I love setting goals and the challenge that
comes with seeing them through, and I love motivating and helping others
to obtain a higher level of personal wellness.
